We believe that we can save the world one bear at a time and in time, make the world a better place. Rome wasn't built in a day, Thor did not become myth in a decade, and humanity did not become civilised in a century. We can make a difference and we need to start somewhere. Here is one starting point. Spread the word on the cruel practice of bear bile farming and help free bears all around Asia who are still locked in tiny cages with a catheter permanently stuck in their side to drain bile for their captors to sell. It is terribly painful, as I can personally attest, having one stuck in me while in hospital and then removed, and truly no way to live. Bears in these farms live in these cages for their whole long lives, unable to stand up or even turn around. It is a despairing and agonising life for these intelligent animals. Although bear bile is said to cure a series of therapeutic woes, experts say that the same can be achieved by herbal medicines. This kind of cruelty should not be tolerated for a mere therapeutic remedy, especially when herbal replacements can be used. This has been reiterated and emphasized many times. Animals Asia Founder and CEO, Jill Robinson has worked tirelessly to free bears in China from this terrible life. Together with the Chinese Government, over 200 bears have been freed to date and many farms closed down. Animals Asia has built a sanctuary for these bears and provide veterinary care as well as help rehabilitate the bears to live out their lives with dignity and happiness. It is a lofty and very commendable effort. There is still much to be done. Visit Animals Asia Foundation and find out more about the China Bear Rescue. What can you do to help the bears: 1.
